More surroundings

A view out the car window a little while before Tax Day. When I was showing some photos to a friend, she said "Oh, pictures from NY!" Not.

neighborhood views

In honor of the url, let me post a few photos of my surroundings. This is The Great Salt Lake, which our lovely valley is named for. I love it when the wind blows the lake stench into the neighborhood on a summer night just before a thunderstorm. Really.

Why this title?

I started this blog when a friend had one and I had to create my own blog to view hers. She was going to school in England and since I'm in the States, I thought I'd call it "Across the Waters". In March, I finally made my way across the waters after being landlocked for far too many years. I'll post something about that trip soon.

I started my Garden Blog a couple of months ago, and have devoted most of my blogging energy to it, but it's not a good place for those random posts about other stuff, so back to this one.

3. A year ago, I found my high school buddy on Reunion.com, and found out she lives in the city I'd traveled to on business barely one month before.
4. My favorite pastime is swimming with the fishies.
5. I'm tired right now and will finish this later.
6. I once played the French Horn in Carnegie Hall. I imagined the stuff stuck to the floor was leftover jelly beans from the first Beatles concert in the U.S.
